He is a musicologist and composer.
He teaches Music Pedagogy at the 'G. Martucci' Conservatoire in Salerno and Musicology and History of Music at 'Suor Orsola Benincasa' University in Naples.
He composes music for theatre, radio, television, and film performed in Italy (Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Biennale Teatro Venezia, Mostra del Cinema di Venezia, etc.) and in Paris, Tokyo, and Sydney.
He has written essays, books and articles on music and performance in 20th century Italian culture.
Among his works: Mozart a Napoli (Guida, 1991); Pedagogia musicale, Napoli (Edizioni Sintesi, 1993); a complete edition in 6 volumes of the music by Raffaele Viviani (1987-1994); La canzone napoletana (Newton Compton, 1995); the first edition of Sceneggiata, Rappresentazioni di un genere popolare (Guida, 2002); Studi sulla canzone napoletana classica (Lim, 2008); Storie di musiche (Guida, 2010); Passatempi musicali, Guglielmo Cottrau e la canzone napoletana di primo ‘800 (Guida, 2013).
Since 2001 he has been a member of the artistic management of the theatre company, Gli Ipocriti, and the Music Association, Scatola Sonora/Musicisti Associati.
He has recorded two CDs with Enzo Moscato under the Il Manifesto label: Cantà (1999) and Hotel de l’univers (2004).
