He graduated with highest honours from the ‘S. Pietro a Majella’ Conservatoire of Naples under the guidance of Francesco De Sanctis.
He subsequently studied under Josè Tomàs in Alicante, under Oscar Ghiglia at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana of Siena, and attended the masterclasses delivered by Leo Brouwer and David Russell.
He has performed in concerts in many European countries, including as a guest in a number of International Festivals.
He has received excellent reviews from critics and won several awards, including first prize at the International Guitar Competitions Palma d’Oro (Finale Ligure,1993), Città di Mottola (1995), and Nicola Fago (Taranto,1995). He performed as a soloist with several orchestras, such as Naples Discantus Ensemble, Rybnik Filharmonia R.O.W., and Katowice Silesian Chamber Orchestra.
He regularly performs in a duo with the pianist Dora Cantella, his sister.
They have released their first CD of twentieth century guitar and piano music.
He is a professor of classical guitar at the 'Giuseppe Martucci' Conservatoire of Salerno (Italy).
