Key learning outcomes:
Students completing required courses for the Master Degree of Choir Conducting will have acquired the technical ability and specific competences that will allow them to fully express their interpretative personality. To meet this goal, students will closely study the main compositional techniques and idioms that are most representative of various historical periods. Professional skills for choral composition will be acquired. Practical conducting techniques and the history of conducting will be explored in depth. Aural training, memorization and specific knowledge related to the various models of music analysis and their evolution will also be studied.
Considerable attention will be paid to the student’s acquisition of proper emotional and postural control. Upon completion of the Master Degree, students will have attained in-depth knowledge of the general stylistic, historical and aesthetic aspects related to their specific area of choral conducting. In addition, they will possess adequate skills in the use of computer technology for music and in the use of a second European Union language.

Specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning:
Credits are transferred according to the general arrangements for recognition of prior learning of the Institution. Maximum number of recognized credits: 60

Specific admission requirements:
To apply for a Postgraduate degree it is necessary to hold a Bachelor’s.
Students holding a Bachelor’s degree awarded by university or a university-level institution can be admitted if their secondary school leaving certificate grants access to a Postgraduate degree within the Higher Education system of reference.
Admittance will be based on the entrance exam results.

Qualification requirements and regulations:
This course is based on the ECTS credit accumulation system. The student must complete the curriculum as described in the Course structure. This includes compulsory and elective subjects and other activities for a total of 120 ECTS credits.

Examination regulations, assessment and grading:
The Italian grading system is based on a scale of 0-30, with 18/30 as the lowest passing grade. 30/30 cum laude may also be awarded. The final grade is based on a scale of 0-110, with 66/110 as the lowest passing grade. To the highest grade of 110/110, cum laude may be added, but only with the unanimous decision of the examining board. Salerno Conservatoire provides an ECTS Grading Table (inserisci link alla pagina ECTS Grading Table) which shows the actual distribution, of examination and final grades among students of each degree programme, in order to facilitate comparison with other grading systems.

Graduation requirements:
The final exam consists of a performance based on the student's major subject and of the discussion of an essay of adequate scientific value.

This course provides career opportunities in the following fields: choir conducting; chamber choir conducting; symphony choir conducting; operatic choir conducting; chapel choir conducting; stage assistant in opera houses; choral composition, trascription and arrangements.

Access to further studies:
´┐╝´┐╝´┐╝Graduates holding a 2nd cycle degree are eligible to apply to 3rd cycle degrees.
