In June 2013, the State Conservatoire of Music of Salerno participated in the sixth edition of the Suona Francese Festival, a big initiative that aims to promote French music in Italy. In that occasion, the conservatoire organized two concerts curated by the Chamber Music Department together with the international Relations Office. The festival started, on the 7th of June, with the “Il divino arabesco” concert, during which students played music of Messiaen, Ohana, Hurel and Debussy, whose “Chansons of Bilitis” were performed in an original arrangement realized by the performers themselves; on the 8th of June, the students of the conservatoire performed the “Le Bal Masqué” concert, during which some pieces of the profane cantata of Poulenc have been played.
